My mug shots …

Here’s my story ...

Bella’s story began in March 2018 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was left behind when her previous owners moved and left her to fend for herself outside. She was very pregnant and ready to give birth to kittens any day. Luckily the neighbors noticed her and called it in to a local cat rescue. They caught her just in time, because she gave birth to a litter of kittens within 2 days. She moved around to a couple of foster homes and all her kittens where adopted to good homes.
It wasn’t until end of summer that I was ready to adopt a new cat, because I had just lost my childhood cat of 18 years that spring. I noticed that Bella (previously named Quinn by the rescue) was still available and arranged to go meet her. The rescue needed her to go to a home with no other pets or kids and the new owners needed to be quiet and patient. She didn’t do well with other pets, because she was very territorial and she bit and scratched when I met her. She was clearly not ready to trust humans anytime soon. But something in my gut told me I needed her and I went back two days later with my husband and took her home.
The first day Bella came home with us, she hid in her litter box all day growling and hissing at us. It took her a couple of weeks to stop hiding under the couch and it was a very slow progress to gain her trust to show we were good people. It wasn’t until about a year she stopped her biting and scratching habit. Then she started jumping on the couch with us to cuddle against our legs. Now almost two years later she is the most cuddliest, happiest cat we ever had. She loves to play and run around the house and even loves to meet new people that come over. And whenever we come home from work, she does a little happy scratch on her scratcher and comes to greet us at the door. It’s safe to say she loves her new furever family!
